...if you don't know where there nest is.

I got wasp's that are increasingly hanging around my deck, I do not have a clue what is drawing them and worse yet don't know where they are nesting.

As of yet nobody has been stung but it is getting to the point ya cannot set out there without 2-3-4 comming around and making ya nervous.

Spray 'em one at a time, they'll all come out eventually. I usually use starting fluid on them...works better than bee spray! :D

watch under the arms of patio chairs. We have one of those big plastic ones......they built a nest under the arm where it meets the leg. 7yr old daughter grabs there to move the chair...you guessed it,,,,they zapped her...first time she's ever been stung.....She handled it a lot better than I would of......that nest didn't last long....got the ole 15' shooting can of that foaming stuff......you couldn't even see the chair :D

Torture and pain is all they understand. Capture them, then slowly pull their wings off. After they are grounded put them in a jar with fire ants and let'em fight it out. On the other hand one word, "Raid"!.

You'll have to find the nest or nests. When you locate it, wait till after dark to spray it. This will ensure everyone is "home" when you shoot it.

They sell wasp catching devices that trap them inside....they are attracted to something inside but can't get out since the openings are fluted. I don't know who makes them, but my grandpa has one and he empties it every other day, and usually there are al least 20 in there. We have had issues with wasps here as well.

I think you can make a homemade contraption by cutting the top of a 2 liter bottle of and inverting it into the bottom half and filling it with 3-4 inches of soda and some kind of insecticide. Wasps go in and can't get out.

Red wasps? They will enter an unwashed empty plastic coke bottle.

They return to the nest in the evening, you should be able to see where they enter...probably under the deck. I like using the long-distance spray, 1 at a time, like zmoz.

But I like brdog's suggestion.

Or you can slap 'em to the ground with an open palm then stomp 'em. I do it all the time, never been stung.

Take them to Ireland and drop them off in a Catholic neighborhood.

Try hanging an inflated paper bag tied to a string near where they are bothering you. What happens is that since wasps are territorial they will think its another nest and stay away. Trust me, it works. I use it on my boat at anchor if/when they get bad.

If you're doing them 1 or 2 at a time I highly recommend use of a badminton racket...Adds a bit of sport to the process.

Insecticides will do it - once you find the nest.
Go to your Agriculture Chemical Company and ask advice.
We have a reverse problem when we spray insecticides. Have to do it when the bees are not foraging otherwise we will knock them off, and that is not a good thing to do.
What a lot of great ideas.....
Ireland,
Microwave,
Squash Racquet
:D
Cheers
Phillip
