I did a search and could not find any posts on this subject. As of right now when i get ready to go fishing i have to lug this 20 lb tackle bag from in the house to the boat. And then it sits in the bottom of the boat for everybody to trip over when on the water. Is there a way to store the 5 or 6 plano 3600 boxes( i could bring more if i had the space in the bag). I have a ranger 178vx and the fwd compartment is empty. i could just throw the boxes in there but i would like to stay more organized. How does everybody stay organized?

I have many small boxes and only bring what I need for the particular type of fishing I'm planning on. Bass box, crappie box, white bass box, etc.
Some duplication, but easier than bringing a bunch of stuff that I don't need.

I'm building a built-in storage box to store Plano 3600 boxes.
Draws with sliders, made from left-over Starboard.

I've seen the 'pre-fab' units but they're too pricey for me.

I keep one tackle box in each boat, camper etc
I only have to bring 'new stuff'.

Something to think about,,,,,,

"Permanently" storing tackle in the boat is a great way to have it end up at a pawn shop and make a dope junkie happy.

Unless you have a very secure spot to park your boat when not in use, I would not recommend it.

A member of another board I frequent had his boat raided one night this summer, it was parked under his bedroom window, inside his fence, close to where his dog sleeps.

Re: how do you store tackle???

In years past, Ive tried to get the biggest box i could find, invariably the handle breaks off and its a super pain to lug it all around.

These days I have several boxes at home, and a medium "trip" box. The trip box is the only one I take on the boat, and I change the contents gradually week to week, depending on how the fishing is going.

One thing Ive found handy are notebooks. The "pages" are really heavy plastic zip loc type bags. You can cram alot into them per total space, and they keep things pretty well organized. I have two of them in the bottom of the trip box. Got mine at bass pro.

I use several plano 3600 cases and a soft duffle. The duffle holds 5 cases at any time, along with some universal items in the side pockets. As someone else said, only take what you need.

I have several Plano boxes for different baits and lures. I just take what I'm
going to use. I'm going to miss my tackle box, I use to put it on the floor and I could use it for a foot rest.

Re: how do you store tackle???

The only things that stay on my boat are rod holders (thru bolted) and downriggers.......all else comes in the house. That being said- my boat stays right in my driveway and is high up so getting in and out with no ladder is a pain, but I refuse to make it easy for anybody to steal my stuff......I have alot of $$ invested in it.

i also have a tackle bag that also holds 5, 3600 boxes and the handel ripped on it, i am probably going to store the boxes in the boat, cause those "box bags" are getting expensive. no issues on security here. i just buy dog food....

Another note to mention, don't store plastic bait...worms, rubber frogs etc in older tackle boxes, something happens and they turn to a jelly/acid and ate right through the trays.

Ruined a couple spots in some of my 'really old' tackle boxes I keep in the garage.

I don't leave anything valuable lying around, fishing poles are removed, keys, anything that can walk off easily.
Some real good neighborhoods and marinas on the coast have been robbed, thieves know how to drive!

I think most people that see my gear might laugh, top shelf 20 years ago...not quite an antique, but priceless for me!
