how does my o/b charge my batts.

i just bought an out board with an altanater? do i need a on board batt. charger or do i just hook the wires to the batt.? if so can i have the wires from the o/b / charger on the batt. at the same time as my lights or trolling motor?

Just hook it up. Red to Pos. + and Black to neg. -.

You can leave your on board charger hooked up, just not plugged into the A/C outlet.

Don't run the motor without the battery cables connected. It can do serious and expensive damage on some (most) motors.

its a evinrude 9.9 i thing its a 87, i have been runin every day for a week, and never had the wires hooked up, the po used it for a kicker and i dont think he had it hooked up to hes batts. ether

when i plug in my charger do i need to remove the motor wires from the batt.
i don't think i would be a good idea to send a charge to my motor right?

I think we've had this topic before on the 9.9/15's and ruled that they could be run without the battery connected as they were designed to work without a battery without fear of damage, it's an unregulated system with just a rectifier.

A regular, normal, charger won't feed back through the motor. The rectifier blocks it.
