How does one know if their shift cable is going ?

Just wondering. About to replace the bellows and wanted to know how to check for a bad or going shift cable. What to check for ?

Ayuh,... If the bellows ripped, the inner cable has been contaminated with water, 'n crud,...

You'd be a fool to change the bellows, 'n Not the cable...

X2. If you're replacing the bellows, you should replace the shift cable. No question about it.
