Re: How does this control box come apart? (PICS)
This control box did not even have that allen screw installed, which threw me off, I didn't know how to remove it. I used a punch and got the throttle arm off that way, Thanks.
I bought this control and motor from Outboard Exchange, which re-manufactures outboard motors. I feel I should let others know my feeling SO FAR with my purchase. For starters, The control box wiring was installed so the wires inside blocked off the holes to where I mount the control. If I ran a drill bit through these holes to mark location for mounting, I would have chewed right through the wiring. The two halves of the control have bosses for these holes, and when they drew together the box they pinched all the wires. Hack work.
He also said this control box looked 'like new'. Far from it, this box was sun faded, had stripped screws (and missing a screw) and scratches all over it.
My "new" outboard I paid over $5,000 for has leaking tilt/trim hydraulic oil. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow...
