Well after the great help from the people here on the forum's I finnaly got my boat going after rebuilding the carb's, fuel pumps, the lines, and changing the impeller. Now my question is how fast should it go? I'm running a 1971 mercury 1150 115hp on a 1970 switzer speed craft.

Re: How fast should it go?

Well Shawn, there are many equations to help determine vessel's top speed.

Prop: pitch, width,

Engine: height, HAP(horsepower at prop), carburetor performance

Vessel: hull shape, length, width, bottom surface, weight including passenger/s, drag, boyency.

Water: surface texture(smooth, choppy), wind, water temperature, air temperature, sea level...and others I am sure I have missed.

There are many factors that can contribute to the WOT top speed which I do not have the resourse to define. Borrow a hand held GPS or mount a speedo and !!!go open her up!!!!
