how hard is it to change seals in LU

got a 81, 80 hp mariner and was wanting to know how big of a job this would be and get any tips, how many seals and were are they at. i am wait for a manual but no one has it around here. so playing the waiting game and how long does it usually take? and cost? thanks 4 ur time

If you have the manual and the right tools, it's a fairly straight forward job. No tools and no manual... Forget it.

The tools you'll need are 'gas axe', and a puller for the bearing carrier, and the special tool for removing and installing the bearing carrier cover screw. You'll also need a pressure and vacuum gauge to check for integrity when you've finished.

There are 6 seals in total, 2 on the driveshaft under the water pump, 2 on the prop shaft, one on the shift shaft and an 'O' ring around the bearing carrier. Also 2 sealing washer under the FILL and VENT screws, but most people don't count those as seals.
