How Hot Should My Engine Be

I have a 1989 Force 125. When running at idle for 10 minutes or so, The engine gets extremely hot. So hot that if I put drops of water on the block, they boil. I have strong stream of water coming out of the pisser holes in the back. The water is very hot that comes out. I just had the impellar and thermostat replaced at the beggining of the season. Also, I took out the spark plugs after running it, and they were also extremely hot. I am worried about some of the wires that touch the block. They look like they are melting. I think it only happens when idiling, not when crusing. Any info would be great. Thanks.

sounds like you are running too hot (absolutely). I'm not sure what the water circulation pattern is for your Force, but it sounds like your water pump is getting water up to the block, but there is no circulation. Get a manual. Pull the thermostat. Try running briefly without a thermostat and see if it runs cool -- but shut it down unless it definitely is running cool enough that you can hold your hand on the top of the head for at least a few seconds.

Thanks, I will try what you said. How long should I run it without a tstat? And if it runs cool, does that mean I have a bad tstat, or something else is wrong?
