How long is my Shaft

I have a 1983 Sylvan 16SS.
I currently has an 1981 Mariner.
Obviously this is not the originaly motor with the two year seperation.
The boat is rated for a 90HP motor.
How do you determine the correct shaft lenght when looking for a new motor?
How do you measure the lenght of the shaft of a motor?

measure the boat. where the motor sits to the bottom of the keel should be 20 inch +- 1/2 inch. that would be a long shaft motor.
