I am curious as to those who had varnished cork floats. That loved to cause flooded engines after about 5 to 10minutes. I spent several hours before I found that was the problem.

I still have an original cork float in a 68 3hp Evinrude. Seemed fine, so I just left it.

Mine has the original cork as well. It's amazing how well these little motors run. My '57 Johnson Seahorse 3hp also runs like a champ.

The TD / TN / HD are a " --" 3 port motor "---Do not have reed valves and run quiet since there is no reed noise.
