Re: How many of ya'all's wives go fishing with you??

As my first post NOT on my wife's screen name on here (CadillacsCowgirl) I must state that not only does she love to fish, she has a bigger tackle box, more tackle, more poles, and, sad to say, more fishing experience than me, especially in salt water! To top that, she encouraged me to get our first boat together and works on it with me, and helps me maintain it. And not by just handing wrenches and beer to me while she rolls her eyes!!! I gotta say, the best catch I ever landed is my wife!!!

i can't say she loves to fish, but we whet out one day while the kids were in school. I was on the bow fishing and thought she was soaking up the sun. Until I heard her say How do I change this lure. To my surprise she had my daughters pole and had been fishing the whole time. Now she has her own pole, but she still uses my tackle which is fine with me.

Lol that's awesome man! My wife USED to use my lures....until she started outfishing me... I went and bought her all her own tackle... If she keeps it up, she's going to have to get her own boat too hahaha!

My wife rarely ever went fishing with me but got interested about 8-9 years ago. We got out first boat 2-1/2 years ago and she is into it big time. Has pictures of us(mostly her) all over the wall with large catches, mostly bass, but now has "catfish fever" after catching several nice channel cats as of late. I don't have to suggest fishing, as she usually beats me to it. Of course if the fish aren't biting or if she loses a monster fish she does not take it very well and I have to hear about it for the rest of the day.... Usually catches more than me as she rarely removes the fish from her lines. That is the first mates job apparently!

Got rid of the wife and fish with my 11 year old daughter. Good times. :)

Feel your pain on this one. My wife will remove her own fish, if it can be done easily, which (amazingly!) is rare. But she won't even attempt to remove one from a catfish. At least I don't have to bait her hook!! But, as you no doubt know, the first mate does what the admiral says.

I say that about baiting her hook, but she's decided she's gonna become a bass expert, and has recently decided that spinners are where it's at. We went this past weekend, and she span all morning and got nothing. I was using a rat-l-trap and got a couple of decent bass. When I get time this evening I'll post a pic of the one I'm proud of over in the freshwater forum.

my wife and I love to go fishing together. Around here we usually go for a half day; on the shore a couple hours. Often when the fishing gets slow we go exploring/cruising instead. Whoever is catching the least fish says "it's not a competition" and the other says "that's what losers always say."

I do the baiting and unhooking. I don't mind.

True story.....A few years back they had a tagged fishing tournament at my favorite lake. I did not participate but was hanging around the launch area and this guy and his wife (I assume) were arguing quite loudly. She was wanting to go with him on his bass boat but he had a buddy with him and was telling her three was a crowd. After she got her composure back she started fishing around the boat slips......guess who caught the lhighest dollar tagged fish? Yup that poor guy will eat crow the rest of his life.

I took my wife fishing with me many years ago and she enjoys it...however...I spend all my time baiting her hook and taking her fish off.
Reminds me of the first time I took her fishing...we were in the boat and were trolling very slow and she says in a whisper voice...something is pulling on my line...so in a whispered voice trying my best not to LOL I said...pull back...it might be a Fish  :D

If I were being Grammar Police, I'd have to say the correct answer to "How many of y'all's wives go fishing..." is "all of them."

And it's "y'all" for the non-specific second person plural.

Re: How many of ya'all's wives go fishing with you??

My mom is a book reader. My exwife like to fish. My daughter loves to fish as much if not more than I do. Had to start buying her gear at the age of 4. Now she's 13 & has 2 tackle boxes and 5 rods. My Girl freind loves to fish but not as much as I do. When we met she had 1 rod, know I got her up to 5 rods and her own tackle box. But I have to bait & take off the fish for her.
