Re: how much oil ?

My 1985 vintage 140 still has the oil injection working fine. I think that its 50 to 1 ratio but dont hold me to it, wait for the experts here to confirm or not. Thats 50 parts gas to 1 part quality 2 stroke oil. Do the math for however much you are putting in.

Re: how much oil ?

50:1 is one pint of oil to 6 gallons of gas, or obviously 2 pints (1 qt) to 12 gallons. You can easily figure out the other gallons like 3, etc.

Did not go there with my answer as there is a difference between U.S. and Imperial gallons. Being an Englishman living in Canada I took that route.

One pint to six (US) gallons. Or, 16 Ounces to six US gallons.

That would be 40 ounces to 15 US gallons.

Isn't an Imperial gallon 5 US quarts?

I think that the U.S. gallon is 128 fluid oz and the imperial gallon is 160 fluid oz and there are 4.45 litres to an imperial gallon.

Pretty close to 5/4th
Imperial Gallon, 277.5 cubic inches (230 in3 in a US Gal)

50:1 mix add about 3.6 oz oil to Imperial gallon and that should be close to a std 50:1

From the book (owner's manual)
16 fl ozs (473 millilitres) to 6 US gallons, 5 Imperial Gallons, 22.7 litres
20 millilitres to 1 litre.

Re: how much oil ?

I don't know how we got on imperial gallons here, but for canman there is a very easy way to figure out how much you need to mix for however many gallons you are filling up (for 50:1), which your engine is:

# of gallons X 128 / 50 = ounces of oil to add

So 15 gallons X 128 = 1,920 then / 50 and you get 38.4oz of oil you need to add for 15 gallons.

You can get a good measuring device at any marine store.
