Ive got an 1972 Sidewinder 18SS. Its got two coats for Interlux pre-kote on it, and out of a gallon I still have atleast half if not more left.

Im going to order Interlux Brightsides for it, and was wondering how much paint you might think I will need. I was going to paint from the rubrail UP blu-glo white. And then Blue from the rub rail DOWN to the chine. I have already done the bottom of the boat in new Gelcoat.....

Do you think 2 quarts of Blue and one quart of white? Im not real sure if Im going to spray or roll, depending on if I have enough money to buy a compressor here this month.

This is the boat in pre-kote

Two quarts should give you two good coats using the roll and tip method. 2 quarts sprayed might be cutting it pretty close but I think you can make it. Are you sure you want to use Brightside? Its a topside paint and not formulated for submersion. Perfection might be a better choice.

I used Pre-Kote which is made for Brightside. The hull bottom I have already GELCOATED, yes the hull sides will be exposed to water, but not that much. Its not a boat to stay at the lake, its a trailer queen for the weekend.

So your saying 2 quarts for the hull side should be plenty, and 1 quart for the top should be okay? Because Im doing two different colors in two different locations. I figured the blue would need more coverage due to the opacity of the color vs the white being on white primer....
