I get to work and unload my tools from the camp run from the previous day. Climb back into my truck as I head across the shop yard finishing my last few gulps of coffee. Park the truck still with the last song on the radio in my head in full zen with the morning. Open the door on the truck, step out and wham on my behind in a water covered patch of ice.

I think I hydroplaned getting up because I didn't get that wet. Boy what a eye opener.

Yeahhhh, I had an eye-opener this morning too. I'm tooling along at 75(+) as a road construction truck loaded with cones pulls onto the interstate ahead of me. As I start to pass,,, cones come flying off the truck... Not those cute little teepee looking things but the big 55 gallon drum sized ones

Re: How not to start your morning

I had a hapless neighbor that was on his way to work in a Dodge colt. It was snowing. In the right lane on a 4 lane, the truck in front of him started shedding pallets. When he tried to steer around the debris, he spun out, crossed all 4 lanes of traffic, hit the guard rail, was T-boned by a propane truck, crossed all four lanes the other way, went up the bank, and rolled on his side. He was unhurt, but didn't have much of a car left.

2 months later, in the LUV he bought to replace the colt, 3 am, he saw a deer cross the road in the woods (near my home) and stopped just in case there were more. About 7 large deer then ran over the pickup knocking out the windshield, both headlights, one taillight, a mirror, and wrinkling most of the quarter panels. Did about $3500 damage to it. It looked like it had been rolled.

My life is charmed compared to that.

Wow...I remember the second part of that story you told in a thread that was about deer, but with the first part too--man, that poor guy does have some bad luck! At least he wasn't hurt either time. I bet it hurts when he gets his auto insurance bill though

My worst so far is plugging the truck in only to see sparks flying out from under the truck.

Quickly unplugged and into the stealership. block heater and cord were toast plus it was time for a coolant change anyway (~120kms).

$500 gone.

That was Tuesday.

Fished Wednesday so all is good again.

Not a problem. He finally ran out of luck. Lung cancer got him.
He did leave a legend, though.

Last monday morn I was driving up to my favorite coffee stand to grab my joe and hit a patch of ice, well, wound up getting the joe after I hit the coffee shack with my jeep. Did a little damage but it could have been worse.
