My son who just turned 7 a month ago believed in santa up until today when the daycare van driver who picked him and other kindergartners from school decided to tell them all that santa was fake and made up by their parents.

I'm kinda pissed right now because he is already excited for Christmas and now he is kinda of like whatever. I feel my son is still young and innocent enough to believe, hell he just lost his first tooth and was all excited about the tooth fairy lol. Maybe i'm just to soft when it comes to my kids lol

My kids figured it out at about age 5-6 . . .

The Admiral said, "well if you don't believe, you don't receive". The kids replied . . . "I believe, I believe" . . .

End of trauma.

Re: How old is to old for Santa Clause?

A few years ago my then 8 year old decided there was no Santa. I broke out the "Santa Tracker" to show her his movements and said, like tpenfield's Admiral, "You gotta believe if you want something from Santa." She got excited about Christmas again and had fun with it. She is now 11 and still puts out milk and cookies for Santa and carrots and celery for the reindeer. I in turn leave remnants for her and a note. It is a game we play. She gets gifts from Mom and Dad, but there is always a "special" gift from Santa. We will always have fun with it.

Christmas is about something more special than Santa, it is about the greatest gift ever given to man. That giving is why many want to share with others.

I'd be more than pissed about your situation. My 6 year olds are clueless. Last Christmas my then 7 year old was convinced it wasn't true but the NORAD Santa tracker made him wonder. We'll probably tell him what he already knows pretty soon. I like Tpenfield's response. It seems to me some of the magic of the holiday will be lost when Santa's identity is revealed.

when my kids got to that age they had worked out there was no santa we gave them the idea that santa payed for the gifts and told us what we should buy for them. we would tell them its no good telling us what you want you need to send a letter to santa as we only get whats on his list. for years they belived that the gift card with santa on the front that they had seen was like a credit card that santa sent us to pick up the gifts

Re: How old is to old for Santa Clause?

My daughter found out there was no Santa from a kid at school, I forget at what age(she wasn't real young). She came to us to verify what she heard. We had to tell her it was true. Then she asked, "I suppose there's no tooth fairy either?". When we told her, she said "What!!!". She was crushed. No Santa or tooth fairy all in the same day!

She's now 16. I'll guarantee, come the nite before Christmas, the special "milk for Santa" glass will be full and the Santa plate will have cookies. And that's fine by me! I think we all like to keep a little Santa in us. Heck, I still receive gifts from Santa! That's all "part" of the Christmas spirit...........

How about we get thru Thanksgiving first..........:)

Oh trust me, I am. Last year when I was deployed around the holidays, I asked what he wanted from santa, and he said for me to come home, and luckily I was able to make it home and all he talked about was how happy he was with santa.

Say what?

Oh man, guess I should stop mailing those letters.

I bet that bus driver won't be getting any special thank you gifts this year.

Re: How old is to old for Santa Clause?

I came to believe very early in my life that Santa Claus/St. Nicholas is not a flesh and blood homo sapiens, but a name for the spirit of love and giving that we celebrate during the "holiday season". Not real in a physical sense, but very real in a spiritual sense. Santa lives, not at the North Pole, but in our own hearts.

My descendants and I are comfortable with that belief to this day.

Smoe, please tell me what day care that is so I can go punch the driver in the nose. Poor little fella. That just really steams me. I'm truly stunned that anyone could be that insensitive. What a bonehead.:mad: I'm with Art all the way when it comes to Christmas and Santy (not when it comes to sanity though; he knows nothing about that ). Gracie knows the true meaning of Christmas, but there's still room in her heart for Santa (along with Peter Cottontail and the Tooth Fairy). She's ten. Some of her classmates still believe and some of them don't. The ones who don't are very vocal about it, but it's water off a duck's back to her because she has a mind of her own and is very deliberate. She'll believe until she doesn't want to any more, and the admiral and I are in agreement that we'll let it play out that way and enjoy it while we can. As for your little man, you didn't ask, but I'm willing to bet you can find a way to reverse the damage if you're so inclined. Won't be hard unless he's ready to stop believing anyway. Good luck.

My son came to us last year (age 6) months before Christmas, and said he knew Santa couldn't be real. So we agreed with him, and didn't make a big deal about it. Come Christmas, he forgot all about our conversation! Strange kid, I tell ya.

Re: How old is to old for Santa Clause?

My older sisters helped me reveal santa's true identity...by discovering his presents in the trunk of my dad's car.

I would imagine if I had kids, I would want to tell them before they get to the age where sitting on Santa s lap is no longer acceptable.

I will always be a believer, although I dont get presents from him anymore and that's because I've done everything right!
