I have a Chrysler 35 HP outboard motor on my boat. Model number is 356HA (1971 I believe...)
I'm new at this boating lark and though I can find similar questions to this one but with different engines I don't have quite enough knowledge to translate answers to those questions for this engine.
I had an incident a month back which resulted in the boat being stuck, grounded, for a week.
Since retrieving it I've cleaned it all up and have things running again. The engine runs beautifully (though the choke keeps popping my fuses since; guess the solenoid is shot..)
I took it out to test yesterday and found that it goes into reverse perfectly, though going into forward is a bit of a pain. As it tries to engage you can hear the gears grid as it's not quite getting in there. A quick push on the throttle and it engages.
After some research it would appear that I likely need to adjust the cables a little to allow the engine to engage the gears correctly. Though that's about as far as I get - can't find anything, tutorial or otherwise, specific to this engine.
The image below is of the side of my engine, showing the shifter and cables.
I wonder if someone would be so kind as to point out what I should/shouldn't be adjusting in order to get this thing to go into gear correctly.
Thanks in advance
