Re: How to become a iBoats moderator.
OBJ,
Yes, I have thought about hunting out of state, and I happen to be sandwiched between two of the better states for big bucks, (Ohio and Illinois).
Let me share with you the following story;
I was deerhunting a 400 acre piece of property for 14 years. Its a great piece of land with many large bucks. I had always treated the landowner like gold. I would always help him out in any way I could, and even though I am not rich, I would buy him something each year to show my appreciation. I treated that property like it was my own, and the only way the landowner knew I was there was if he saw my vehicle, or if he saw my footprint. Well, last year, when I called the landowner, (like I always did), to secure permission for that year, he informed me that I could no longer hunt there. He told me that he had leased the hunting rights out to 8 guys from Indianapolis for $5,000 a year! I cannot compete with that. Its his property, but he could have at least given me a chance to get in on the lease, or even made an exception for me. It used to be if you treated someone well, they would return the favor. Thats a lot of money, and I am not saying I blame him, but the way he handled me was really not very good.
He said it was nothing I did, it was just the money. Unfortunately, this is becoming an epidemic around here. If you want to hunt the good land, you have to be rich.

Muskyone, I am finding directions to your house now and will be there shortly.
