I'll have to go along with ol' carpy here.

That JB and Mod1 are just like big brothers to me.

And that JB is one good looking dude too.

I only had one brother and I lost him 9/11 so it is nice to have them 2 around to look up to just like I did my brother.

I better quit, I'm starting to get all misty eyed myself.

Sorry, guys.

The daughters who are co-owners of much of The Hideout and future owners of all of it are certified tree-huggers and crack shots.

The deal is that nobody but me hunts here and the land is managed for wildlife habitat. I harvest very sparingly. I can't shoot a deer I fed as a fawn :( .

Now. Still wanna suck up? :D

JB,

No offense here, but "tree hugger" and "crack shot" in the same sentence is an oxymoron!

I'll have to think about that one for a while.

I'm not sure I'll like the outcome. :D

Not necessarily, DJ.

Either of them welcomes the opportunity to reduce the feral dog population on their place, and they consider any loose dog that is molesting their stock or wildlife feral.

Sort of like I feel about racketycoons raiding my bird feeders. :)

I danged sure wouldn't want to really offend either of them, and I am their beloved old Dad.

:( The misty eyes just keep happenin' :( - this time 'cause I done realized that JB's daughters would, by his description, consider me a feral dog! :(

JB, are the daughters too old to spank? Just kidding. ;)
We have tremendous hunting around here, it just seems that all of the good land is tied up in hunting leases anymore. I used to be able to ask almost anyone and gain permission to hunt, now it seems that if you are rich, you get access to the best hunting opportunities. Didn't used to be like that. :(

Maybe your not as nice lookin a fella as I first thought. :D

CH...ever try hunting in OHIO. We got some splendid deer hunting here to. And they are large. The guy that runs the camp at John Kerr where we fish says he'd give anything to come up and hunt. He said they got deer, but in Ohio, they got DEER! If I ever learn how to post a picture, I'll post the 8 point my Dad got one year. Big animal.

Re: How to become a iBoats moderator.

OBJ,
Yes, I have thought about hunting out of state, and I happen to be sandwiched between two of the better states for big bucks, (Ohio and Illinois).
Let me share with you the following story;
I was deerhunting a 400 acre piece of property for 14 years. Its a great piece of land with many large bucks. I had always treated the landowner like gold. I would always help him out in any way I could, and even though I am not rich, I would buy him something each year to show my appreciation. I treated that property like it was my own, and the only way the landowner knew I was there was if he saw my vehicle, or if he saw my footprint. Well, last year, when I called the landowner, (like I always did), to secure permission for that year, he informed me that I could no longer hunt there. He told me that he had leased the hunting rights out to 8 guys from Indianapolis for $5,000 a year! I cannot compete with that. Its his property, but he could have at least given me a chance to get in on the lease, or even made an exception for me. It used to be if you treated someone well, they would return the favor. Thats a lot of money, and I am not saying I blame him, but the way he handled me was really not very good. :(
He said it was nothing I did, it was just the money. Unfortunately, this is becoming an epidemic around here. If you want to hunt the good land, you have to be rich.

Muskyone, I am finding directions to your house now and will be there shortly. :D

At the risk of getting off-topic here... ...did I see someone mention tree-huggers ? You might (or might not) be surprised to learn that it's big business down here in New Zealand.... ;)

Check this site out...( but be warned that it will try to sell you a hugable tree... )

Hug A Tree

:D
