Hello my boat has the seat similar to this boatseat.jpg, but it's too low..ok so I am too short, I have to stand up to give me a clear view of the horizon to feel comfortable.
I would like to make it taller, how do I do it? do I buy a pedestal to replace it? any pedestal will work or I have to buy specific one

thank you

Some pedestal pipes are removable and you might be able to get a similar pipe at a metal dealer ....... get a longer one.

OR

Get a new pedestal that is height adjustable with a lever so other people can drive too.

some seats have a flip up bolster in them.....adds 4 inches.

other than an adjustable base....(the best) you could just replace the base pipe as bob suggested

Standard seat pedastels are 3.75" and any marine store will have replacement support tubes in stock. They come in 12" increments, so get the one closest to the length you need. At worst, get a 48" and cut to specific length. An adjustable pedastel will run you about $175 for a decent one.
