How to fire up a OB motor off the boat?

No, I have a 115hp, I need to work on. I need to know the trick to starting it on the a frame in the shop. what is the set up I need? This is the 1st OB I'm attempting to fix. How do the mechanics do it?
I've seen it done it's just been a long long time ago! with all the OB owners out there somebody must have the knowledge. I guess it's a stupid question but I am new to OBs! I need to start it at will and run it a few.

Assume you don't have the control box......

Start the engine by connecting the small solenoid terminal (the one that does NOT have a black ground wire on it) to 12V. I'd use an automotive starter momentary switch from the car parts store.

For a kill switch, you need to tap into the black/yellow wire coming off the powerpack, and connect it to any good ground. A toggle switch will do for that. Open to run, closed to stop.

Electric choke, you just need to get 12V to the solenoid. Probably want to use a toggle switch.

Careful, there. What year 115 are we talking about here? It's easy to blow some expensive stuff. And how do you plan to cool it?

And... you need to put the engine foot in water, if not, the impeller will fry in 2 seconds

1971, 115hp Evinrude, electronic ignition. I have the throttle/gear control box. I also have the orginial dash key switch, wiring harness, postive/negative battery cable etc.. all disconnected from the motor. I do have a 25gal. drum to keep the lower unit in when running. I want to trouble shoot the motor first. Then hook it to the factory harness and trouble shoot from there if need be. I hope this answers the questions. The answers you are giving are going in the direction I am looking.
