how to install fuel pump on merc 135

So I have called around to a bunch of marina's and they are all telling me I need a new fuel pump. Basically my 93 merc 135 black max is stalling at idle after about 4 or 5 min and on acceleration. If I continue to prime the bulb I can keep the motor running without stalling.

Is the new fuel pump just bolt off/bolt on? Anything I should watch out for I ordered a new pump rather then rebuild the one I have. Is it a fairly straight forward install?

Until someone with more knowledge and experience answers (shouldn't take much) I will give you a bit of hope. If it is anything like the '83 115, it is very simple. Just bolt on and hook up fuel lines. It could be very different but I am guessing it is somewhat similar.

Thanks Danny. Normally I can find some form of youtube video DIY or a forum or something online but I seem to be coming up sort. From what I can see I think you are right in that it bolts on - reconnect lines and cross your fingers it was just the fuel pump that was causing my issues

If you ordered the entire pump, and it comes assembled, it is just a bolt on. Remember it has two seals, one on each side of the pump. The port in the block provides vacuum to the pump as does the pulse line.

Thanks Chris. I did order the entire pump. It came with a bunch of spare parts because the guy told me the merc pumps are now used in multiple engine with different configurations so it came with a bunch of hoses and bolts which made it seem like a way bigger deal then it actually was. Would you keep the existing lines or replace with the ones provided and bolt new fuel pump on? Or just use the lines and attach to the new pump? Any advantages of using the newer lines more ethenol friendly?
