How to Install Water Pressure Fitting '88 - 135 Black Max

Does anyone know where to install a water pressure gauge on a 1988 135 Black Max?

I believe I have to remove the plug (circled in red in the picture) and install the fitting there, but I am not sure. The fitting to the gauge is 3/8" and the plug is ~3/4".

Your picture didn't come through. If you have a 3/4 inch plug and the fitting is 3/8 go to any hardware store or the plumbing department of any home improvement store and buy a reducer bushing. It is simply a plug that fits a 3/4 inch hole and the hole in it is 3/8. You may actually need two reducers. One for 3/4 down to 1/2 and another from 1/2 down to 3/8. Any port that opens into the water jacket will work for the gauge. Installing a "T" fitting in the tell tale hose works on many but not all engines. It all depends on how the water makes its way through the engine and to the tell tale. Here is how it looks in the tell tale on a 75hp Merc triple.

This picture shows a temp sender in a port on the water cover. If you have an unused port, the fitting can go there.

I did do a search. They all say to tap-in to a port in the water jacket (at least the correct ones), which I know.

What I'm asking is if anyone can confirm if I have circled the correct port on the top. If it is the correct port I will have to do what Silvertip says and buy a reducer fitting, but I want to make sure it is the correct port.

I dont want to pull the plug to find a spring mechanism or something under there that will pop out and require re-setting.
