Jeez, somehow I thought you were talking about a filler cushion for the bow, don't know how I was confused! I will go back to my original advice, get an upholstery shop, it is going to be tough for a novice to get this to look right, without too many wrinkles.

BTW, that is a nice looking boat! I remember when I was a kid in the 60's seeing Glastrons and always asking my dad why we could not buy one of those. I think there was only one on the lake we lived on, always loved it until it sank one day!

too bad about the sinking:rolleyes: Did your father answer your question? I had to wait a long time to buy my first boat (this one) without mention that I was an Offshore driver here in P.R. and join a few races in the USA with the APBA. But never own a boat until now.

You should be able to use a heat gun to slowly heat the plastic, to form the bends. If you let it cool in place, you wont be having to fight the bends all the time, trying to keep them from coming undone.

Upholstry is NOT that hard. It's pretty stretchy, and if you take your time, you'll be able to pull all the wrinkles out.

Start at one end, and slowly work your way along, using plenty of staples. Just don't get in a hurry, and I'll bet you it turns out just fine. If you come to areas that require a little bit of extra stretch, just use a hairdryer or a heat gun on LOW setting to slowly warm (I said warm, not heat) the vinyl, to make it more pliable.

It's best to do work with the upholstery in a warmer environment, if possible. Your 60 degree basement isn't the place to do it.

Being outside in the shade, on a hot day, will make it much easier to work the upholstery.

one of the things about doing uph .....is to streach the vynal uniformly....thats the big trick.....same pressure thruought or the cushion wont be the same thickness and it will look like a bubba job

Re: How to make a Mold for my Boat Bow

Hi Krackatoa! I've played with PVC trimboard and like the way it works. Most of my projects have been with 3/4" x 6"planking .(ihavent found 4'x8' sheets) I bent / curved it by kerfing + glueing and just simply steaming it. I filled a large roasting pan with water on my old camp stove , dipped the trimplank into the boiling h2o till soft, then poped it into an awaiting form. when gluing I used all purpose pvc cement (OATEY RED CAN) and clear primer. scraped the bond area to the plastic . Hope these ideas help ! Peter

Probably obvious, but when you buy your staples at Home Depot or wherever, make sure you get stainless steel staples. HD does have them, but 99% of what's on the rack is not stainless steel, and will rust and break very quickly.

(Discovered this when stapling in deck carpet)

Re: How to make a Mold for my Boat Bow

Hello Guys!
Finally I finish the molds for the Bow Bolster, I dont think that this PVC takes staples since it looks very toast while cutting it, anyway, just left is how to "make the fishing" to catch the original bolts bow clip holes in my mold, maybe I can glue it directly to the fiberglass? Use Velcro? Pictures of the molds on its way, just looking for the USB camera cable:confused:
