how to reach top rpm speed on my 85 hp FORCE engine

hi there
i know by the book of my engine the best rpm is between 4500 -5500 rpm
but at WOT i only reach 4600 rpm
how to reach 5000 5200 tanks alot

and at my last thread my question was about charging at 16 volt and everybody says its was normal so my question was
whats is the best battery i can put to be able to take 16 volt for a while

What size/pitch prop are you using?

If the engine is running well then do this test. When parked in the driveway (do not start engine) then put the engine into gear and push the throttle all the way forward. Then look at all 3 carbs to see if the rear butterflys are horizontal. If that is the case then You probably need to go to a lower pitch prop. If you have a 19 pitch go to 17 for example. My boat was about 4500 on average and going down 2 pitches got me to 5000 on average.

Any battery will work.

Load will affect the performance,it's possible the foam in the hull is saturated.
I cut up a boat and the foam was so soaked, it weighed about 800 extra pounds.
Too many people?An extra cooler?A dog? Extra gear?All affect performance.
Like mitzy said. Check the carbs.Do the linc and sinc(top post) and check the travel of the linkage.

im using 13 1/4 - 17 pitch
and jerryjerry05 that's sound really logic i never try to run the boat alone im always whit my 3 kids and my wife i will give a try alone
and of course i will check the opening of the carb !
but i think the answer is the load

I had a 1989 Maxum 1700 for 25 years I ended up using a 15 pitch prop on it. I found it worked well as I always had a load of people and stuff in the boat. With four adults it would get up to about 5100 rpm With just me in the boat it would top out at 5500 rpm and about 36mph
