Re: How to remove Sediment in Fuel Tank?
So far I am not sure which method I plan to use. I have taken the boat out twice since. The plan we devised was to use a large water seperator filter from Racor which has a drain plug on the bottom. We installed a bleed line to this and a valve and the plan was to drain the sediment out of the bottom of the filter each time and then go again. Problem is that the idea doesn't work. Either the sediment does not settle heavy enough to go out the drain plug, or the filter was plugged from the top right away. When opening the drain **** the gas would come out, but very little sediment. So we went back to the regular filter and the shaking it into a cup and putting it back on method. This seems to work the best. I don't really want to tear into the gas tank portals and start siphoning gas again, but if I have to I guess that's what I'll do.

I don't think the carburator is going to get clogged because there is a paper filter in it's inlet which looks like it would block just about anything rather quickly. Although I plan to rebuild the carb soon anyway since it was sitting for so long.

Matt
1978 Reinell 6m
Mercruiser 5.7
