I have a 1990 Maxum L-drive 120 Force fish & ski boat that has a small hole in the exhaust bellows. The part is no longer available and I need to know if anyone knows of any rubber repair or urethane sealant that can repair the exhaust bellows.

Re: How to repair a rubber exhaust bellows

unless the sound is a problem a small hole in exhaust bellows shouldn't be any cause for concern... the sad part tho is that it's just a matter of time before it is toast and nothing will repair it... I have never personally put hands on an L drive but possibly pics and measurements would help finding an alternative...

I wonder if a tire patch would work? Just my .02 worth.

I would think it is there for a reason and I bet that small hole will get big fast. Can you retro fit a bellow from Merc or Volvo to it? If not I would go with the tire patch and see if that works. Even if you manage to get a patch to hold the bellow will not hold out for ever. I would hate to have to figure out how to retrofit something to work on it in the middle of boating season. I would rather do it now when I have forced downtime due to the weather.

I agree that the first hole is the first sign of wearout and continuous patching. Find a suitable alternative.

I would measure the length and circumference of the opening then call a drive shaft shop. They would have to have something that would fit. There are many drive shafts and cv joints that use bellows.

Obviously people replying have no clue what the exhaust bellows on an L-drive is. Item 7 in the picture below, PN F695130-3.

Re: How to repair a rubber exhaust bellows

Looks like I may have everyone looking/answering for the wrong part; it is not the exhaust bellows that has a small hole, it is the U-Joint bellows that has a hole in it. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated (part# F695129 for 1990 Maxum L-drive 120 Force)
