How to replace screens on water intake on Cobra drive?

I have a 5.7 Cobra drive and I noticed that the screens that are on the inside of the water inlet holes on the outdrive are broken.

I have looked in the manual and unless I'm missing something I don't think it says how to put new ones in.

Has anyone done this before? Anyone know how to? Are the screens available?

As always thanks

Thank you so much.

So I guess anything that is small enough to get in there prob won't hurt anything?

Re: How to replace screens on water intake on Cobra drive?

They put them in there for a reason, and in fresh water or on trailered boat they are fine. My boat is moored in salt water and even with the anti fouling paint I get small barnacles growing in there. What I wind up doing is removing the drive in the fall (normal maintenance) and then I take out the impeller. Next I take a small pick or really small screwdriver and break up the barnacles, carefully with out destroying the screens. Then I put the muffs on the drive and use water pressure to flush em out. It would actaully be easier to clean it out if the screens were not there...but I am able to do this without breaking them up and keep the intakes pretty clean. As long as there is nothing growing in there blocking the water intakes I would not bother, but if you have to split the upper and lower to replace seals then you can replace em...
