I have a aluminum Sylvan and just got a new Lowrance HDS 5. My question is how do you secure the transducer cable to the back of the transom? My old one fit through the weep hole but the fittings on the new one wont so I have to go up and over the transom. I want to secure the cable and make it look neat. Any recommendations for securing the cable? Thanks BP

I would check a hardware store for rubber grommets. Or a auto parts store. If you can find one ,drill the hole big enough to push the plug through and grommet it to help seal the hole and prevent chaffing.

I used CATV cable clamps on mine. White plastic with a possibly 3/16" screw. Just drilled a small pilot hole, little dab of 4200 and it looks pretty decent. Been on there for almost three years and still going strong! :D

I used self adhesive tub surround 3 years ago! Bought it from Home Depot for about $6 and it's still going strong. My boat is a trailer boat, so I think that helps. The white doesn't match exactly, but close enough. (The wire hides real nice in a channel in the tape that's supposed to be there to cover your old tub caulking.)
All the best.

Since the boat is aluminum, it's advisable to glue a section of Starboard onto the transom ( with 4200) so that you can screw your transducer into it (the board) vs poking holes in the aluminum. With that done, you can use basic P shaped plastic wire clamp to screw the wire down along it's length. This is a pretty common set-up on aluminum hulls.

Have you already drilled holes in your transom for your transducer?
