how to tell....air pockets

any way of knowing if there are air pockets when changing the outdrive fluid?? Mine in perticular is an 88 OMC cobra...If im that concerne about it, shold I live the fill hole open overnight, and let the air pocket bleed out????

fill it from the bottom hole and you won't have any air pockets.

I didnt fill it from the bottom, I flled i according to the manual....what should I do to be on the safe side???

If you filled it buy the manual , i believe it has 3 plugs ,bottom, middle and top

If it is the unit i think it gets filled from the middle to stop any air pockets the manual should have the amount of oil required


If your still not sure i would post in the I/O forum as many OMC units have been damaged from being filled low
