OK, so I have a 1969 40 HP elec shift evinrude. I bought a seloc manual. I replaced the impeller. Now, how can I tell if it is working well? I tested the motor in a trash can of water, ran fine, but where do I look to see if water is flowing well. Small droplets come from a rubber looking hose on the back the unit, just below the motor. Where is the intake? Where is the outlet? Sorry in advance for the simple/dumb questions. Thanks!

You might get periodic spray from the port on the back of the leg, but if it's like my '70 85 was, it's not a tell-tale. If the water is pumping to the head, and the thermostat is working, the head (top around the t.stat) will be hot enough that you will pull your hand away in a few seconds, but not so hot that you burn yourself. That would mean that it's running at around 130 or 140 degrees at idle, which should be fine.
