How to test Power Pack?

My 1989 Evinrude 120 v4 kicked the bucket the other day. It was running great then it instantly died. Checked all the usual stuff and found no spark on any of the cylinders. I think its the Power Pack. Is there a way to test it with a multi-meter to see if it is getting a signal or sending a signal? I would like to diagnose it as a new power pack costs $185.00 and is not returnable. That can get expensive if you are chasing a problem by replacing parts.

The easiest way to test a pack is to give it what it needs (charge voltage, trigger, good ground and open kill circuit) If then it doesn't work, pitch it.
