Re: How to un seize a 65 chevy 327 v8

I bought a car that sat for probably 4to5 years (only had 9000 miles on it). Took all the spark plugs out and dribbled atf into them and poured some down the carb. After letting it settle and replacing the fuel filter and pump the dang thing started. I drove it for another 10years. One problem with this forum is everyone is too ready to rip parts off. Try the easy fix first. Do a comp test if it rotates then decide.

He said the engine is a 65??? You put this engine in a car. It's night or day what ever. Your out cruising and are tickled pink cause you got the engine running. Your about three miles from home and you decied to punch it. The engine blows because of a broke piston ring. No cell, no radio, nobody around, what do you do? Walk home (45 minutes). Three miles out in sea! No cell no radio, nobody around, what are going to do? Wish you had put a five hundred dollar rebuild kit in and settle into wondering just when you fill be found!!! O??? Is the faimly with you? No worries art. To each his own. Engine that old, rebuild it.

Just a thought but.. some chevy 327 blocks are worth some $$$ running or not. U might want to check the casting #s and see if your motor is worth more to a collector. Use the money to repower, JUST A THOUGHT:)
