My favorite is pretty much using my issue as the word of choice. If it's a busted fishing rod, the phrase would be something like "What in the busted fishing rod is going on here".

A couple other good ones:
Son of a building block,
Cheese and Rice!

I am comfortable with my swearing in the forum............ I have been known to swear out loud at my computer monitor which is normally responded to by my wife asking "what's wrong" ............

My typical response is to explain what the swearing situation is to my wife who understands!................... Then I type my response............ if the swearing is not enough....... I call another moderator to vent! :D

Well, Bling Blang Blarn it!!!... What the heck do we need to use flippen expletives for anyway???

With a little excercise in intelligence and clear thought, one would not feel the need to use even a single *&!#x%!!!ing expletive.:p:D

...But thank you just the same, JB.;)

so lacking in eloquence and imagination.

That's funny- because I find being offended by one word and not by another with the exact same implied meaning absolutely asinine. Next we'll be burning witches I guess.

Actually I find it asinine that anyone would read (presumably you have read them....) the posting guidelines in this forum and not appreciate that the "not offending" part is pretty much a cornerstone in here....(and subject to more than the occasional discussion....;))

How exactly does one correlate implied meaning between a known profanity and a nonsense word? Furthermore, as someone who has burned more than his share of witches I find your analogy spurious at best.

Nah, just poorly disguised forbidden language. Try "What the dickens?" or "What the Sam Hill?"

Really too close to the line. Gentlemen....... let's use common sense and not attempt to push the envelope.

Just act civil. iboats is proud of the forum and it's content.

Thanks. ;)

Re: How to use expletives without offending forum rules

Always felt that the way most people used words that we consider naughty in nature showed a lack of imagination and creativity.

I was playing around earlier - and do find some of the stuff in the thread pretty humorous - but my grandfather used to say something very similar to what is said here: The need to communicate in profanity is typically an indicator of a small command of language. Sometimes a "word" is appropriate to a context, but often it's simply the lack of a word to fill a desire to say "anything." Not as an insult to anyone here, but perhaps and encouragement:cool:

Thanks to the mods for not letting this get outta' control.

I really don't think JB started this thread just so people could try out different methods of saying "Bad Words" here in DC, perhaps you should look at the meaning of what he said and not just post a bunch of silly words and symbols to show how clever you really aren't.
