so after reading several threads I think my 3.0 TKS mercruiser has only 2 drain plugs. They are on the right side of the block and are on 2 blue hoses.

Sound right?

Yes, you just unclip the 2 hoses from the plate and drop them to the bilge to drain.

Why does everyone change the oil's when winterizing? Wouldn't it be better to do it in the spring?

Only a little bit of water mixed with oil creates acids. That acid eats/pits/corrodes metal parts. Changing the oil before winter removes the acid from your engine.

No. I don't want that dirty oil sitting in my engines over the whole winter.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Last thing, since I drained the motor is it better to reconnect the drain hoses of just leave them hanging into the bilge?
