Do The Boat Have To Be In Water For The Pumps To Work?

The Date Is 11/27/08 I Was I My Yard Working On The Boat I Hade A Battery Booster Box I Hooked It To One Battery Line At A Time Non Of The Pumps Came On ,i Hooked Up The Booster Box To Each Of The Live Well Pumps Still Did Not Work,the Only Pump That Did Work The One That Pumps The Water Out Of The Boat.i Maybe Doing Somthing Roung Or Mabe Somthing Is Off? I Change Swiches, Fuses,no Power To The Pumps.

And Thank You So Much, I Am Trying Get An Understanding Of How Do The Two Punps Get The Power To Run I Do Not See Them On The Battery I Was Thinking Thay Are Right On The Batter?

You will need either a 12V light tester or a multimeter for basic wiring repair and component troubleshooting. Do you have either of those? If so you need to start by determining if you have 12V between the brown and black wires with the switch on. Then does your livewell pump operate with a 12V source applied. Brown is typically positive to a pump, black should always be negative.​

I have a similar problem with my auto timer on my 90 ProCraft. I found an after market timer that wires in to the power wires of the pump. It mounts through the dash, so all that needs to be done is drill a hole for the timer switch and hook the power wires to the switch. I just left my original timer switch in place, disconnected. So far works great. I bought mine at Academy Sports, I 'm sure you could get it at most other Outdoor Sports big name stores. For me it was just easier to hook up something new, than to try and figure what was wrong with the original timer. Especially, since it has a circuit board and it is 18 years old.
