UNICORN-- My 02. The big price on boats is motors.I run a 1967 year motor that has never been rebuilt and has had at least three different owners that I know of and is still running strong. I try to maintain mine at an optimum performance setting. I want it to last me another 36 years if I can.

ob spark advance advanced with throttle handle. full advance and not enough rpm equals burned pistons. if your ob engine has mechanical advance you need to be sure the engine reaches its rated wot. if because the boat is to heavy that trip to reach rated wot do something about it or run at slow enough speed that engine isn't labored. otherwise, enough rpm to stay comfortably on plane is probably most economical gph and easiest on motor.
