If we make illegals legal, and let them stay, they will become legal. With me so far?<br /><br />They will have to be paid minimume wage and if they work over forty hours, benefits. <br /><br />The reason illegals have those jobs are because they are cheap labor and can't complain for fear of being thrown out. It is not because Americans won't do them.<br /><br />If we make millions of illegals legal, then what do you think law abiding immigrants will think?<br /><br />Who will sweat shops hire? Who will pick the fields? The answer is easy.<br /><br />Just find more illeagls.

Oh...one more thing.<br /><br />Ever have a kid come to school without lunch money? Well I have. Teachers pay for things out of own pocket not because they have to, but because it is not right to let the kid sit by himself without anything to eat.<br /><br />Same goes for field trips. The school would have to hire a temp to babysit.<br /><br />I have checked the box requesting a parent conference on every interim report and report card throughout the year only to be rewarded ONE parent to come in. The ONLY time a parent came in was because it was mandatory in order to let the kid back from a suspension. To be fair I must add this was at an "at risk" school where the kids came from a place of which they were expelled. Most of them (students) should have been put in jail to begin with.

I never thought I would agree with Rolmops and PW but I'm close (except for that Hillary Village thing) I grew up in a very rural area in Montana where my i room grade school was 13 miles from our house. High school was another 20 on top of that. My parents not only carted myself and my 2 sisters to school everyday but also helped us study and made sure our homework was done. Cotrast that with when I lived in Buffalo and the parents, if they could be found, would come and sometimes threaten or commit violence on a teacher. Those were the ones that wern't out turning tricks for crack or dealing. I have to say I think in the big picture it is more to do with the parents than any other single reason.
