I think this is just a camera trick: very long stick, snake is closer to the camera than the dude, hence, whopper of a snake. There's another circulating that claims a 15' rattler. It's just a forced perspective.
On second thought, he does appear to be straining to support the snake, forearms bulging, back bent backwards slightly, plus the snakes tail is touching the ground about three feet from his boots.
Whatever, that's a big one!
