Hull ID is nowhere to be found on a 1981 cuddy.

My friend picked up an old boat from craigslist. He has the registration for the boat so we know what the HIN is, we just can't confirm it. There is absolutely no HIN to be found at all. There isn't even a scar where one used to be. We searched every inch of this large cuddy's transom except the 2 inches of concealed fiberglass that is directly under the swim deck. The swim deck looks to be original. Could the HIN be hiding under it? The swim deck is placed directly under where the cap and the transom meet.

Is there another place a HIN can be placed except on the transom in 1981?

I wouldn't doubt that it is under the swim platform.

Wouldn't that make the location of the swim deck illegal?

Maybe if it is hiding under there it would be a good idea to add another one just below it.
