I have a humminbird 120 depth ans fish finder I am having trouble with. It is giving me crazy depth readings that is not even close. It varies from 74 ft to 120 ft when its just about 7 feet deep. The auto depth wont go to 15 feet. I have cleaned the sensor and checked the wires, could I have a bad sensor? Dont really know whrer to go from here

It could be the transducer but if that unit is only good for 120 ft then its an old one. Humminbird charges something like $80 to fix those. I have a feeling you would be better off replacing it. But you could call Humminbird and ask them.

Have you rechecked the mounting angle of the transducer? Sometimes debri will knock the ducer out of adjustment which will cause strange readings. All of this assumes of course it is transom not hull mounted.

Thanks 4 replys, I think I have it fixed, I very lighty used super fine sandpaper on the sensor and it seems to be working. I cleaned it with a mild cleaner and that didnt work. It must of had a build up of lake scum on it.
