Hi guys,
I just installed a new HB 596 HD DI unit on my boat. I have a choice of 200kHz or 455khz for sonar and 455khz or 800kHz for down imaging. I fish fresh water, usually in the 30-100 ft depth range. My plan was to run the Sonar at 200kHZ and the down imaging at 455kHZ. Would those be the reccomemded frequencies for this depth?? The down imaging seems fine, nice picture. The Sonar is where I am having issues. When set at 200kHz I ALWAYS get a line at going across the screen 14' down. It is not a thrmocline or a downrigger ball. I can make it go away if I turn the sensitivity WAY WAY down but I feel there is another issue going on here. When I switch to 455kHz for the sonar the line goes away. This line is present with the engine turned on and off and also present with the Trolling motor turned on and off. (they are run off seperate batteries too). My old ff was a raytheon black and white unit and it had this SAME line too, which males me think it may be a noise or interference issue but from where??? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
