HYBRID HELP '90 115 + '95 115 powerhead

I have a dead Evinrude E115TLESB 1990. The head gasket let go on #2 cylinder and the #4 overheated and rings disintegrated. OUCH!! I do have access to a 115 powerhead that supposed to be 1995 vintage. Is there any possibility of mating the lower 1990 with the 1995 powerhead????? Does it make any sense??

If the 1995 115 is a crossflow, the parts will interchange nicely. If its a 60* looper 115, nothing is the same. Not even the flywheel nut. In fact the 60* doesnt have a flywheel nut, its a bolt now that you mention it.

Thank you Dhadley. This helps me out greatly,as I needed to make a choice today. I have to apologize as while you were typing this out I retyped my topic removing capitals to tone down the request. I've thoroughly appreciated reading throught he advice given on this forum. Again, MANY THANKS!

I went back to look again at the 1995 115, i only get 2 pictures of the engine which appears to be the same as mine. You mentioned that the flywheel connection was different. If this si true then it would be a crossflow engine. Do you have any more for me on this so that I can be more confident in purchasing this powerhead on ebay. Thanks

If you can see the flywheel, it is a crossflow. The looper wont even resemble yours. If it looks like yours, it is the same.

Thanks Dhadley, I bought her! I should have her back together for the Sept. longweekend. What compression should I get when I test it on arrival? I was going to ask seller to fog cylinders prior to shipping, is there anything else I should have them do prior to shipping?
