Hydro Electric stuck in forward gear

72 johnston Hydro electric<br /> 65 hp, Do you have to crank motor to test gear changes or should it change just by 12v power alone ?.Can I run a power lead off the battery to test. thankyou for help

Blueline, the motor will not shift unless it is running, or at least turning over with the battery. With the motor running, you can run a 12V lead from your battery to the Green for neutral and the Green and Blue for Reverse to see if it works. Make sure you're running Type C lower unit oil, not the usual 90W. Good Luck.

This engine uses hydralic to move the clutch dog , so yes you must be running/cranking the engine ( remove the plugs if you just want to crank it ,more rpm ).
