I just installed and tested a Stingray hydrofoil on my 16'4" Baja w/110hp Johnson. What a difference!! Planes much quicker with four people on board. Also planes nicely at much lower speeds. I usually have to navigate the river at 30 mph in order to stay off sand bars. Now I can do it slower and safer!(maybe I won't get shot). The boat definately has a different feel in the water now, a little more confident. Top end doesn't seem to be changed either, I didn't check with GPS but the boat still hauls!

di you have a problem with porpoise before... and if so, did the foil fix it?

Yeah, I just put a Doel-fin on my 17'6" Thompson with a 120 hp OMC Electric Shift, and got impressive improvements as well. Stern used to dig deep. Now, it stays up at slow speeds and hole shot is almost immediate. No top end loss at all. I am really impressed.

My boat really worked well before... I just had to tinker. I'm glad I did! No it didn't porpoise before and it doesn't now. It makes for a much more useable boat.

I put a hydrofoil on my 79' Rude and it made all the difference in the world. The stern jumps up on my hole shot and the boat is much more stable and easier to control at lower speeds. Plus I've really noticed the gas savings. I thought my gauge was broke because it didn't move for so long. Some people say their ugly. I'll take ugly anytime as long as it works. (Once your in the water who can see it anyway)?

Dutch
