Re: HydroFoil Stabilizers

I do 2.
I have the Doel-Fin, slightly modified.
It came with the boat, and I had trouble getting a set of muffs to fit the oddball intake on my engine, and the fins wouldn't allow me to put the leg in a trashcan for flushing. So i removed it.I have since broke down and PURCHASED muffs that fits my intake, because the boat took twice as long to get on plane without the fins.
And talk about porposing!!!! I had female porposes riding my wake, and makin google-eyes, it was bobbing so bad!
I had an extra doelfin, and did some 'spearmenting. I cut 3" off each fin,at a 45degree angle on the tips. It only slightly took longer to plane, and eneded the porpsosing. If you have a power trim on your motor, you can definately get better hole shots with the gizmo mounted. As for fuel economy, it stands to reason, that if it takes less time to reach top speed, and drop throttle, it is taking less fuel to do so too.
Go for it. What are you out if it doesn't help? About kwuny buks.

Just put a StingRay on a Johnson 9.9 on a home built 8 foot mohogany boat. It made a world of difference in time to plane and it allowed me to raise the trim one notch. It also stopped a severe porposing problem. I like the StingRay because I have one on my 135 Merc, and it allows the boat to hold plane at a much slower speed. They also have a lifetime warranty, and they replaced it once after about 10 years because the finish was rough.
