This talk on hydrofoils has me thinking. I have a 23' Cuddy with a Merc 350 and Alpha 1.

I have alot of slow speed wander and planing speed list. Dou you think one of these would correct my stability issues?

No. But helm adjustable trim tabs will correct both.

Thats kinda what I thought, wishfull thinking I guess, cause hydraulic tabs are a little spendy for the budget this year. Any thoughts about 'smart' tabs?

The adjustable tabs will help with the list. If you have a deep V the tabs will most likely do nothing for the low speed wonder. It's the nature of the beast. The only thing that will stop the wondering is more speed.

Smart Tabs are a great product, they will take care of the low speed wander, if the list is the same all of the time you could possibly adjust Smart Tabs to correct this. If the list is not the same all of the time then Smart Tabs may help a little but I don't think they will correct it. I run Smart Tabs on my boat and am very happy with them, my boat does not have a list problem so Smart Tabs have done everything advertised for me.
Go to the website and read the info available there, call John and talk to him, he will answer you straight.

Both types will help with low speed wander. I have a 20 degree bottom and there is a very noticible difference with my tabs down as opposed to up. Same with my buddy's boat who also has a 20 degree bottom with Smart Tabs . . . ;)
