Hi, I'd first like to say thanks to everyone who contributes. This is a great resource for people who want to fix their own boats and motors. I hate dealers, most times they are no help and want $$$$$ for anything.

Like my friend, who had a Yamaha 9.9 long shaft and seized it. The dealer said it wasn't worth fixing and offered him $50 for it. I said RUN!
He fixed it for $250.

Now my question.

My other friend has a 21 ft. Sangster with a 140 merc (i think). Well, the trim and leg lift doesn't work due to air in the system and the dealer said he needs to buy special tools to get the air out. I thinks that's a bunch of hooey so I wanted to ask here first.

Can anyone tell me how to get the air out? Is it just a matter or filling the resevoir and running it up and then down, then checking the oil level? Or do the lines need to be loosened etc.?

Thanks for any ideas.

Jeff, BC, Canada
