I have used one to take the bubble out of a liquid filled compass. Took the compass to a pharmacist with some oil and explained what was needed. He and I spent some time on it and eventually gave me the syringe and needle for use in the future. It was a BIG blunt type of needle (canula??) That was legit.

Joe, I wish I read your post earlier because I have a good explanation of why a fisherman may keep a needle in the boat. My fishing partner is also an attorney and we discussed this. This is something that many tournament anglers do around here. A needle is used to deflate air from bass that are taken from deep water or suspending. If this isn't done, the fish will float belly up in the livewell and eventually drown. The result being a dead fish and a weight penalty. Congratulations to you and your client. If you do need an expert witness in the future, I can help you out.

Joe, <br />I hope I wasn't out of line with my reply earlier, I sometimes get a little over zealous. My sence of humor is so far out in left field sometimes it even suprises me. And we have takin a liken to ya, and I wouldnt want to be the one who ran you off. Hope you stick around!

My question would be why the officers had probable cause to find needles on the boat in the first place. A saftey check would not have revealed this. The guy must have been doing something stupid 'on drugs' to be searched.

Oh, and that crack pipe on my console officer..... It's a fish whistle. You don't use one to call the fish over to your boat when you're out fishing?
