DD, I'm truly glad that things have been on an upturn for you.....
I'm also glad that such programs exist for the children of parents of lesser moral fiber than yourself & your wife.....
Some of these programs might not exist if a certain party had their way.....
You are an exception, but.....
You are the reason that these programs should & do exist......
There are good people out there that do benefit..
You are obviously one of them.....
Money well spent, IMHO
I wish you & your family well :) .....JK

DD
I know where your coming from. I spent a few years with the kids on WIC and some other programs.
seems the recruiter was a tad liberal with the truth and once transfrerd to the chicargo area as an E-1 making 662 dollars a month in 1988 I had to go on aid, got off in 91 when I made E-5 and was paid a blinding 21K a year.
my first born was 3 when I joined and my second was born in 95.
so its not like I was having kids without a job, the recuiter was a tad liberal with the truth but by the time I found out it was to late.
glad to see ya got your situation improved. makes me know that our tax money does some good anyway.

however I have found the housing thing is mostly an unobtainable myth, the lifetime bennies are actually not lifetime and the dental is mostly non-existant for retirees.

Good for you, DD. I think it's a shame that lawmen like yourself and others in the Armed Forces cannot survive in this country without access to additional funding sources like food stamps, etc. There's something really wrong where a person puts his life on the line in his job and not be paid a living wage. Then you hear about CEO's getting paid 100 to 8000 times the average salary of the worker in their company. What's really discouraging is that this has gone on for decades in this country. How many of us would go to work each day knowing that there is a chance you might run into some nutcase who could kill you or make you disabled? My hat's off to you, DD. People like you make civilized life possible.
