I have a mercruiser 898 the log manifolds were junk.
Got a hold of theese volvo penta manifolds I want to make work on the motor
I have made brackets for the acc.
I have also found and ordered parts to make the plumbing "plumb" with the log style thermastat housing....
 Is this going to work???...

Those look like nice parts.

Can you do a side by each comparison to define the differences?

maybe, maybe not - i know i wouldn't try it but thats me, i like my stuff to be the right way

at the very least you are gonna have to figure a way to get the risers to connect to the y-pipe

check the merc manual for cooling water diagrams for your engine and old set-up to be sure you have it plumbed correctly

its worth a shot i guess - did you get a screamin deal on the volvo parts??

Looks like it will work. What about from the risers to exhaust pipe? Can you use merc tubes or not?

They will work, but you will need to replace that thermostat housing for the Volvo style. The one you have needs separate plumbing for riser and manifolds being separated. Much easier to just use the Volvo housing.

Thanks Don that makes sense, Probly would be cheaper then what i was going to do-route the hoses just like mercruiser does it.
what if I just pluged the four lower hoses on the mercriser thermastat housing- and hook the two after the thermostat to manifolds, in theory that would work with 4 weak points?

I also plan on routing some of the hot water to the cabin for heating and washing hands and stuff

No, you have to have some constant flow to manifolds at all times. The thermostat housing is what controls that. The original housing does not have those abilities. Closing off ports is not an option.

ok I will just return the fittings I got and get the volvo housing-this I think will work slick...
I will save a small fortune on hose!

one hundread bucks i paid for them preaty good deal i think-
with the thermostat and hose another hundread bucks not bad for a conversion i have seen priced out for over a grand...

conecting to the y pipe will be the easy part some 4" exhust hose clamps and a couple 75 deg elbows

In case you don't know how to install the new housing, here is a picture. Note the thermostat and oring that holds it into place, it is absolutely essential it's installed correctly in the housing for it to work.

I have things in place, really had to tweek the fuel line to get it to have clearance on the volvo thermastat housing.
Other then that things seamed to work out preaty good.
I just need to get the right size bolts and clamp everything doun, then this weekend will do a test start and see how she works
