It is used to align the engine but that is only the coupler and gimbal bearing which are a few inches apartGot my alignment tool.delivered today.Man ...is it HEAVY!!! Don't understand how they can sell and ship for $20 .Gonna watch some vids since I had the wrong idea of the use a an alignment tool.I was under the impression that the tool was longer and actually used to align the engine....my bad..Charlie
sounds about right, maybe just shy of that.CharlieAll tools I've seen are quite long, around 30 in or so...
If v8s were pulled there is a chance that some rear motor mount parts may have been dislodged and fell in bilge. Happened to me too. If it does, you will never align anything.1988 Regal commodore with twin 5.0LX rwc alpha drives. I needed to have an engine replaced last year.Found a 2003 5.0 Vortec and the marina that had it also did the install.Unfortunately the marina was not local and it was done in Feb so couldn't reply check it out till May.There is pretty strong vibration when the drive is engaged so I am assuming they didn't align the new engine.I don't think its something I can handle myself so my question is ,Can I have this done in the off season without running the boat??? I would like to try to get a mobile guy do this now but I still need the motor winterized for another 60 days or so.Thanks Charlie
